Bright Country Golf Club

Bright Country Golf Club is set in one of Victoria's most beautiful alpine valleys with the Ovens River bordering the course and the surrounding mountains as a constant backdrop. We are a welcoming, member-led club where golfers of all abilities come to enjoy a challenging and well-presented course, good company and a relaxed clubhouse. Established in 1909, we are one of the oldest golf clubs in the state and proud of it.

Who We Are

We are a club built on community. With more than 520 members ranging from juniors to life members, Bright Country Golf Club is a place where the game of golf brings people together across generations. We actively welcome new members of all ages and abilities and we work hard to make everyone feel at home from the moment they arrive.

Our vision is to be a progressive, vibrant golf club where players and families come to have fun, relax and enjoy a memorable and challenging round of golf. That vision shapes everything we do, from how we maintain the course to how we run the clubhouse and support our members.

The Course

Our 18-hole, par 72 course winds through 50 hectares of valley floor beside the Ovens River, with the Alps rising in every direction. Designed by Tony Cashmore, it is a layout that rewards good golf and suits players of every standard. The course is open seven days a week to members and visitors.

The Clubhouse

The clubhouse is the social heart of the club. After your round, settle in at the bar, grab a bite to eat, or take a seat on our deck under the shade of large umbrellas and gaze out over the course. It is one of the finer places in the High Country to spend an afternoon. The clubhouse is also available for private functions and events.

Our Heritage

The club has a rich and colourful history stretching back more than a century. From humble beginnings on private farmland, through a devastating bushfire that ultimately gave us our current home, to the opening of our 18-hole course in 1993, ours is a story worth knowing. The Californian Redwood standing 47.4 metres tall beside the clubhouse, the basis for our logo, has watched it all unfold.

The Setting

Bright is a celebrated destination in Victoria's High Country, known for its autumn colour, the Ovens River and an outdoor lifestyle that draws visitors year round. The golf club sits within this landscape, offering a playing experience unlike almost anywhere else in regional Victoria. The course plays beautifully across all four seasons, with alpine views that change with the light and the weather.
